As many of you know, today is Pi Day. It is a holiday commemorating the mathematical constant π (pi). Pi Day is celebrated on March 14 (or 3/14 in month/day date format) since 3, 1, and 4 are the three most significant digits of π in the decimal form. Speaking of the decimal form (3.14159265...), the next three digits are 159. Look down to see when this post was posted...1:59!
There are many ways of celebrating Pi Day, one of which you witnessed above, with the post time of this post matching the first six digits (3.14159) of pi. Other ways of celebrating include eating pie and discussing the relevance of π.
I also did the Pi Day Challenge 2011 just for fun. To end off this post, let me wish you a very happy Pi Day.
COOL! Happy pi-day :)
ReplyDeleteD: I have no idea how the challenge works. Gave up after approximately 5 seconds. :P
ReplyDelete@Rampragash Saravanabavan You too :)
ReplyDelete@gracelee4ever I got up to level 29 (last level), but I couldn't figure it out so I just decided to ditch it since it was taking too much of my time.
